i love summer for so many reasons but right now i am loving the nice weather because it means taking avenue outside everyday. he could spend all day at the park. since im pregnant tho i can usually only last so long without having to go to the bathroom haha. we love the pool too. avenue does it in sessions, he gets in then wants his towel and lays out with me and eats a snack. then he goes back in the water and does it all over again.

the fastest and BEST two years of my life:) cant believe how fast the time goes when your enjoying every minute of watching your baby grow up. i loved the baby phase but avenue is so fun right now, and i feel like aaron is able to enjoy him a lot more too. very blessed to have such a sweet and energetic spirit in our lives. we LOVE this little boy!
avenue has been playing with trains for a while and liked them a lot so we got him the biggest best train table for his birthday (well grandma did!) he still loves it today. when we spend time away from home and then we come back and avenue plays with it like there is no tomorrow. hours on end. best gift for him!

For avenues birthday we also got him a t-shirt that said "this little monkey is going to be a BIG brother!" he wasnt interested in his gifts so gramma jojo opened it and thats how we told family about the new baby on the way!

aarons coaching season

aaron got the opportunity to coach his younger brothers in hockey these last few seasons and he loved every minute of it. they practiced about 3 times a week and went on trips about once a month. he got really good reviews from the parents but i think the boys loved him more.
these are some action shots of avenue at the games. avenue LOVES the hockey rink, he brings his stuff and plays so hard. he runs crazy the whole time then sometimes cries when its time to leave. i love when he goes to the rink too because that means he sleeps well!

on a sunday in march my sister kara sent me a text of a picture with a positive pregnancy test! i was so excited for her but a little disappointed because we had been trying as well for what felt like forever. i told aaron to go buy me a test because i knew i was pregnant to and had to know if we were gonna be pregnant at the same time. i took one of the tests and it was sooo light but i knew it meant i was preg. so i took one every few days that week until it showed up darker!

thats right we are having another baby. we couldnt be more excited to have another baby and for avenue to have someone to play with. we found out its gonna be a BOY! no name ideas yet but its gonna tough to beat avenue....

this is avenue with his own christmas tree at the Dommer's. they decorated it with toy story stuff and he loved it.

avenue played in the wrapping paper that was covering the floor! he played in it for a while and he LOVED it. took it seriously but had fun!

when we were in new hampshire a friend of karas had a party and santa came. avenue didnt really know what to think but kara's boys were out of their minds excited! they loved it because he had a special toy for each of them.

when we were opening presents at our house avenue had a weak moment (it was probably really early) and aaron captured it.

my older sister kara and i have always wanted to go to new york and see the rockefellar tree at christmas time. maybe since we saw home alone movies when we were little. this fall we got tickets and planned at road trip! she is living in concord new hampshire right now so it was about a 5 hour drive. it was beautiful, we drove through Massachusetts, and then Connecticut, and then we stopped by new jersey on the way home. i loved it and was so happy we went and got to see new things. new york has always been at the top of my wish list of places to go. it was very cold and we rushed from place to place, but it was all worth it. we saw dylans candy bar, f.a.o. schwartz and lots of other things.

gardner village is a cute little village of shops and bakerys and is so cute. they decorate amazing for the holidays and i love going over to check them out. right now we are living right next door so we stop by even more!!

this year i was lucky enough to share my birthday with my family in town!! it was fun to spend a nice sunday at home with all the people i love and dont get to see everyday. so grateful they came to see us!

aaron and i took avenue to the aquarium in sandy to see the penguins. he didnt really care that much about the penguins. he liked the ones on the wall he could touch better.

he loved the star fish, he wanted to pick them up.

we had a good time but i think aaron and i were more excited to see avenue enjoy it, which i think he will more when he's older. he does say FISH-Y really cute tho!!

lately our family date night means getting frozen yogurt. whatever kind i get i have to top it with chocolate treats because those are what avenue likes. although he tries very hard to reach any topping he can while we are in line. there is a live band some nights in the little outdoor mall area outside and he likes to dance. pretty cute. he bounces his knees and moves his arms up and down one side at a time. i love his moves!

i try new foods all day with avenue, and after he doesnt like any of them this is what he does. he goes over to the cabinet, grabs the bag of bread, gets himself a slice and goes and sits on the couch. really?! thats all you wanted? if anyone has any ideas of what to feed him im all ears!

finally aaron agreed to cut avenue's hair! it looks really good, even tho it means he is growing up and isnt my baby anymore. aaron cut it and did a really good job. i love the fro. and i love my little man!!

he would take one sip then make a sour face and laugh cause every time it shocked him.

i love hanging out with my baby everyday, who is not really a baby anymore. he is so sweet and fun. he loves to sing now, which i love too. usually in the car or when im getting ready in the mirror he walks in singing. my favorite:)

last night we took avenue to the dollar theater to see shrek 3 and see what he thought. he was so excited and was yelling at the screen. he was just jumping on the seat, eating popcorn, screaming "duckieeee!" and trying to sneak soda. pretty cute. he got bored about half way through so we had to come up with creative ways to keep him entertained and he made it through. it will be a while before we take him again, but i think he had fun trying it out:)

the end of july this summer avenue and i went to new hampshire with my family from alaska to visit my sister kara and her family. it was a lot of fun and im glad we were able to go. these are a few of the best pictures.
avenue + ryan = love/hate

we thought this picture was funny because the difference in the way the boys were eating their ice cream. ayden didnt want to get any on him and tyler couldnt care more and even picked it up after he dropped it to keep eating it lol.

most of the places we went took a little while to get there, so we turned something on the dvd player and the boys tuned in. it also happened to be close to nap time so they usually got a little tired

aaron turned 28 on july 15th! we celebrated by going out on a date night that weekend. on his birthday tho i made him his favorite cake: FUNFETTI !! this used to be my favorite but i havent been excited about it so i decided to try and add some extra ingredients to make it a little better...

1 box funfetti cake mix
4 eggs
1 cup water
1 small box vanilla pudding
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup oil

it takes longer to bake, about 40 or so min, just whenever you can put a knife in the middle and it comes out clean. this cake was so good and made me fall back in love with funfetti. avenue loved it too, so much he asked for it for breakfast the next morning by pointing at it and saying "baaaayte!"

every morning when avenue wakes up he gets a cup of milk and usually watches a little elmo or he cuddles in bed with us for a little bit til were ready to get up. hes super cuddly in the morning. he usually eats some of our breakfast better than anything we try to feed him, i guess it tastes better from our bowl:) then he usually does his dishes, and by this i mean he goes thru all the cabinets that are within his reach and takes the dishes out and sometimes they make it back and sometimes not. he usually ends up climbing into the cabinet to make sure he can get them all! i thought i would share what he has been into lately... after were both awake he likes to go on the back porch and i figured out that he loves ice cubes. i gave him bowl of ice cubes and it entertained him for at least an hour. i tried it again the next day and it was still fun for him. pretty random, but if he likes it!

i cant believe how blessed i am. this past year has been everything: fun, hard, emotional, rewarding, busy, special, and everything in between. i am so grateful for so many things and lately i have been thinking about them a lot. mostly im grateful that i am here on this earth and am able to experience everything heavenly father has put in my path. after high school i lost a good friend of mine and i thought how awful it was that she wouldnt get to be married, be a mom, and so many other things. i often think of her, especially when i reach a big milestone in my life. i thought of her when i got married, how blessed i was to experience being sealed to someone special in a temple of the Lord. i thought of her when i had avenue, my sweet little angel that i got to carry for 9 months and then hold in my arms. and now i get to spend every day with both of my special boys. its not always easy, but im so grateful heavenly father let me stay here long enough to at least try my hardest to be a good wife, a good mommy, and a good daughter. im so blessed...

i took avenue to the thanksgiving point petting zoo and he loved it so much. he liked climbing on all the fences and sticking the quarters in the food dispensers. he didnt want to feed the animals yet but liked watching me feed them.

i had to unclench his legs to get him on the horse. once he was on he started looking around but didnt want to go for a ride, maybe next time.

we saw the geese and when i fed them the corn with my fingers they snapped at my fingers so i squeaked and avenue thought it was the funniest thing ever! then they started making grunting noises so he just started growling! it was hilarious!

we had an amazing independence day grilling with family!

nana joanna and brad came over to eat with us. when we pulled out the apple pie and ice cream for dessert, they had a quick buddy lol.

i made ribs for the first time and they were so good! i used my friend nancy's recipe and simmered them in water and 2 cups brown sugar for about 2 hours, then i grilled them while covering in bbq sauce. so good!

i saw this apple pie on a magazine cover at the grocery store and thought, i could totally do that. so i did! the apple pie and homemade crust recipes are on my blog popcornanddaughters.blogspot.com!

last saturday aaron and i went to the farmers market in downtown salt lake, something i wanted to do all last summer but never got around to. i love it because it reminds me of the saturday market back home in alaska. this saturday while aaron was golfing (surprise lol) avenue and i took aunt kari. avenue loved seeing all the dogs, he likes to pet them and let them lick his face off. as ave would say, YUCK!

this summer is finally getting warm and we have been eating up this amazing weather!!

we LOVE the pool! we fill up the wagon with all of our pool stuff, and ave, and head down to the pool at our apartments. its a nice pool and perfect for us!

its finally warming up in june! it has been the longest spring in utah and it even snowed end of may! super annoying for those of us waiting to go to the pool.

we put him in the water and he loved it! he would throw the balls off the side of his toy and raise his arms and yell SCORE! he kicks and laughs and loves every second.

this month avenue's grandparents from ak visited! we celebrated avenue's first birthday at a park with some elmo cupcakes! they were really fun to make and turned out perfect!!

we put him in front of his cake and it had been such a long day that he wasnt really interested.

i didnt know how he would do with the presents but he went to town and loved it! thanks to all our friends who came to his little party. we are so excited for another year of watching our favorite kid learn new tricks and grow even bigger!! we love this guy!!

michael buble!

when aaron and i were dating he always talked about these electric salt and pepper grinders with lights that his friend had and he wanted. so i took a while and researched and found the perfect pair (not easy). on his birthday he opened them and said it was the best gift he had ever gotten. he said they were very thoughtful. this chritsmas i bought him 6 seasons of a show he wanted and he said that was a pretty good gift too. he was upset tho because he hates giving gifts, he has a hard time thinking of something perfect. for my birthday this year tho he bought me the new michael buble cd because he knows i love his music. and then this christmas he bought us tickets to go to his concert! that was the best gift ever!! i had already seen him once a few years before and it was the best concert i had ever been too. aaron said months before the concert that he was going to open the concert with "cry me a river". he was right! aaron almost missed it because he was parking the car (we sat in traffic about an hour). i barely made it because i got out and ran in when we were still in traffic. it was snowing and wet and cold too, yuck! anyways i filmed the beginning for aaron because i thought he was going to miss it.

aVeNuE's 1st baseball game

today i took avenue to see his first baseball game. i am not a huge fan of watching it on tv, but going to a game is always fun. the weather was pretty nice and ave sat still for a little bit. it was byu vs unlv. he liked watching the "BALL!" get hit and loved when people cheered, he joined in clapping. we only stayed for about 4 innings and then it was nap time. he wasnt too sure what to think about the couger mascot that kept waving at him either lol.

We are quickly approaching the 1st birthday of our firstborn. Avenue is such an incredibly strong micro man. He amazes us everyday with his tiny feats of strength and his lil stubborn personality. I have quite a few nick names for him: Abanue, stinky, moo moos, boo boo, muscle man, smelly, tiny, tiny guy, stinky man, and many more variations of small and smelly. Just today he stealthily tried to grab Kady's phone, pretend to cry, vacuum, chewed up his sucker from the bank, and he loves having his finger up his nose. He doesn't suck on his fingers or thumbs but he loves having his finger in his nose. He is a little insomniac, and during one of his sleepless nights, we watched Elmo in Grouchland and he was scared by the bad guy Huxley and the only thing that would calm him down was to touch the ceiling with his hands. He is a lil busy body. I do not know how Kady is able to keep up with him all the time. Luckily his feet are not able to keep up with him yet, which causes quite a few face plants, but once he can move that fast it will be scary. My only hope for him is that he will be a tough, speedy, little hockey guy. Everyone asks me what I will do if he doesn't like hockey, I will not force him too play, I will just make him chose to play hockey, haha. He loves hockey sticks, every time he sees one he wants to touch it so I think I am safe. I love how cuddly he is getting. He will just chill in my curled arm for long periods of time. I always ask him for kisses and he will give me one every about 100 times I ask, I take what I can get. He is such a little stud, he makes these little cheesy smiles and screams into his phone like dad does "da da da da", pretty good impression for a stinky lil man. Every day Kady and I acknowledge how blessed we are for such an adorable healthy baby, we could not ask for more. Right now he just climbed onto a cardboard box and looked at me like he was so proud, yet so unsure if he should be up there. Classic.

aaron and i are looking at places to rent for the next little while. found some cute places but still looking... this week avenue has learned to pick his boogers, pretend talk on the phone (he usually calls and yells at dad with a serious face), say "uh oh!", almost skip nap time altogether!, climb under dressing room doors, pull his arms out of his car seat straps (they were tightened), and cry on the floor while kicking his legs.. haha big week for him. its a wonder he doesnt sleep more. avenue really is such a good kid to take out, he loves to see new things and places, and now he loves to walk everywhere too (sometimes away from me, which will soon be running away from me). i love this little kid and he loves learning new stuff!! right now my little stinky is watching toy story holding woody and sitting in dad's lap laughing when he laughs... pretty sweet guy!

avenue is 20 pounds, and almost one, so we turned his car seat around a week ago. he loves it so far, hasnt cried much anymore and stays pretty entertained. he used to fall asleep when he was tired and now he just stares at us lol. he doesnt fall asleep cause theres too much to miss:)

i LOVE avenues little hugs.. he is so sweet. he runs around the house playing with toys, tossing balloons, talking on his play phone, getting into stuff.... then he sees me and smiles really big and waddles over and gives me the biggest hug! its the sweetest thing ever. i just want to eat him. he has such a sweet little spirit and personality about him. he loves balls now, anytime he sees one he yells BALL for the next half hour at least. its pretty cute in his low little man voice. anytime i go into the bathroom he tries to climb into the bath. he has toy balls in the tub so he yells BALLS and reaches for them. i love him so much and am so grateful for having him in my life and to hang out with everyday. i cant imagine my life without him and never want him to grow up and move away lol. i watched a movie last called 'everybody's fine' and it was so sad because the father of 4 grown kids was traveling all over the country trying to visit with them. they were avoiding him because they didn't want to tell him the problems in their life and disappoint him. i watched it thinking of avenue the whole time and couldnt imagine what i would do if avenue moved out of state! i dont know how parents do it. letting go of the best thing in their life, letting them go into the big bad world and growing up. i just want avenue to be my sweet little innocent baby forever! i know this is crazy and not possible but a mom can wish. i never knew i could love someone this much, its not even a choice, it feels like his body is made up of my love so its automatic i love him. he is so much a part of everything i think about its crazy. i heard parents say they didnt know how they could love another baby as much as their first and now i totally understand. i now fully understand the momma bear phrase too. i have animal like protection instincts of him. he is me, my heart, a little mini part of me walking around as a little boy. what a blessing to have this feeling! but how powerful it is! i cant imagine my son having health problems, getting his heart broken, getting a bad grade, busting his knee. i dont know if i was equipped with the emotions to handle those things when they gave me this powerful love for him! im sure it will come tho. the other part of my heart understands that this is heavenly fathers sweet spirit and i am only his earthly mother, a teacher and protecter. and that whatever happens is HIS plan and i should accept his will. thats what i told myself while i was pregnant, if i lost the baby or carried full term was all his will. it all sounds very hard but loving him is so easy and so wonderful. ohhhh the BIG love i have for such a LITTLE man:)

i love taking avenue to the mcdonalds playland because there are always a bunch of kids there and he just stares and smiles. he's so fascinated by them, its the cutest thing! he tries to climb up the slide already and loves to climb these big drums too. he likes fries and nuggets too. (aaron does not support these eating habits!) and dont worry, i germ-x his hands afterwards!

you have to keep a close eye on avenue cause he is on the stairs from across the room before you know it! he loves climbing up them! he climbs the first one or two then stops, and politely waits for you to come try and catch him before he darts off again lol. funniest thing ever!

tonight aaron got some jazz tickets from a friend so we couldnt say no! we took avenue to his first NBA game at ten months old lol! he loved it.... for about 20 min. then he got kinda antsy. he liked all the noise, i think he was confused at why people all of a sudden started screaming lol. he clapped a few times too. the kid next to me won the little clapper hands thing and avenue was eyeing it hardcore lol. the kid let him play with it for a while but when we gave it back avenue just stared at it lol. then the kid came back with ice cream and avenue kept reaching for some haha. overall it was a pretty fun game and i think he had a fun time...

avenue is walking more and more these days! im gonna try to put up a video soon, but if you have facebook aaron posted a video on there. he is so cute, still keeps his arms straight out like a little frankenstien but he has a little more confidence to try more often. its fun to watch! he also discovered there is water in the toilet bowl!! haha and he loves to unroll the toilet paper.. aaron got him a little basketball net for the bath tub with little blow fish for balls and that is his new favorite toy:) aaron and i are doing good as well. we are trying to figure out the next place to live, and right now st george is at the top of the list so we'll see.....

my sister kara and i went to dessert with a friend and when we came home we were playing with avenue and his cousin ryan. everyone told me "when they decide to walk, they just start walking". i didnt believe this, i thought it would probably take a couple days to all get put together... but tonight we were walking him between us and he just started taking steps!! we pulled out the camera and uncle cary got it all on video:) my favorite is that he pulls his shoulders up, puts his arms out, and tucks his chin in, he looks like a little frankenstein zombie lol. LOVE HIM! im a more than a little worried tho because now he is going to run EVERYWHERE!!

avenues first teeth, he started teething at 4 months! ahh i hate when they teeth and theres nothing you can do:( he handles it a lot better now and he has 6 teeth total today!
this is one of my favorite photos of all time of AVENUE!! he is laughing in his car seat, something that rarely happens lol. he has been crying in his car seat since he was born and hes almost 9 months! hmm maybe he'll outgrow it soon...
here he is at church! he likes church because theres so many people to see and talk to and what baby doesnt love attention?! i love this little tie we got for him, makes him look like such a man:) aaron likes to hold him and get him to sleep in sacrament. i have tried taking him to relief society a couple times but whenever i do he is SO loud!! lol he talks and talks, i swear he saves it up all week and as soon as it gets quiet he just lets it all go:) he also loves to run his nails on the textured walls, it makes noise and that is so entertaining to him!
this is our cuddly little guy snuggled up watching tv on our bed. he doesnt pay much attention to tv but when hes sleepy he lays in our bed like this and just chills. aaron loves catching him when hes in a cuddle mood!! i get to nurse him so i get more time to cuddle, but i love it whenever he'll give it!
this is avenue outside on the lawn. he LOVES being outside. if he is fussy and you walk outside he stops right away! he loves to look around and watch everything going on. he likes the noises too, especially if there are kids playing outside. he wasnt too sure about the grass on his skin at first lol but toward the end of the summer he didnt mind it one bit:)
here is avenue when he was first learning to sit up! lol he sat up for a little bit and then his feet would go in air and he would tip back:) once he got a grip of it tho he never wanted to lay down anymore!!

Two Years!!

for our TWO year wedding anniversary we went to the cheese cake factory for a late lunch, it was super yummy and we enjoyed the time together:) thanks aaron for being an amazing husband and dad!

avenue is 8 1/2 months old!! i can hardly believe it! he started crawling at 7 months when we were in new hampshire visiting my sister kara and her family. he loved all his cousins and wanted to keep up! he had a fun little christmas with lots of presents from grandparents:) he pulls up on everything so we're sure he'll be walking any day now. he loves baths and being in anything that moves; stroller, walker, someones arms. but he does NOT like his car seat... at ALL! aaron and i feel so blessed to have him in our family. we enjoy his sweet little personality so much! he bites, pinches, drools, laughs, and cuddles!!
aaron is in his second year of coaching his brothers traveling hockey team. he absolutely loves it! he still manages to play a few games himself when he gets a chance. in his spare time he owns a web development company called sleek development. this is also a real passion of his and he enjoys working with his good friend j.r. their company is doing really well and things are getting bigger and better everyday!

kady- i am enjoying raising our son during the day! i love being with avenue and couldnt imagine leaving him with anyone else. im very blessed that my husband enables me to stay at home with our son! sometimes tho it gets a little routine and i try to be creative. a couple months ago i dreamed up a little dinner party group and got it all started. its a blast and i love the dinners with my great friends!! i made a blog for it called homecookednightout.blogspot.com !! im always looking for new, fun ideas to keep me busy at home!

hey friends and family, we're the dommer family! i hope i will be able to update this often enough to keep everyone filled in on our exciting life together. aaron and i have been married two years on jan 5th and have an amazing son who turns 9 months on the 12th! we live in cedar hills, utah just south of salt lake city. we just had an amazing christmas and look forward to more exciting times with our VERY active son avenue:)
